Tips for Happy High School Years - from Hadley Bea
Heyy friends!
Sweet Colby asked me to write a guest post and I decided I would write it about one of my favorite things. HAPPINESS & JOY.
A few of my favorite quotes are:
"...think of all the beauty in everything around you, and be happy." -Anne Frank
"Be cheerful in all that you do. Live joyfully. Live happily." -Ezra Taft Benson
When asked the question,"What is one of the most difficult things you have ever done or experienced, and what did you learn from it?" I responded:
"I had just been elected Freshman Class President and I had already attended the student government retreat. I had a wonderful time and was looking forward to this opportunity. My parents then told me we were moving to Provo and I was filled with fear, anger, and anxiety. However, I quickly made a decision of my own. I knew this could negatively impact the next 4 years of my life and I didn't want that to happen. One night as I was lying in bed reading my patriarchal blessing and my scriptures I had a distinct impression that everything would work out the way it should. I then decided to become involved in as many different things at my new school and make as many friends as I could. Once I got to Provo High, I dove in head-first. I volunteered for the yearbook staff and the speech and debate team. I signed up to be a Freshman Senator and I enrolled in three different clubs. Since then I have participated in many clubs and extracurricular activities and I have taken classes that have sparked my interest in many different career paths. From this experience, I learned that I can accomplish anything I desire. My mom tells all of her children 'attitude is everything' and I believe that wholeheartedly! No matter the circumstances, if I choose to find the good in a situation, and rely on my Savior, I can get through whatever trial I face.
I can guarantee you that there were still very difficult parts of high school - I felt lonely, I felt stressed, I felt overwhelmed - but I also recognized that the more I got involved, the more friendships I made, and the more I relied on my Savior that happiness was achievable.
So here's my challenge to you (whether you're in high school or not): find something to get involved in that you will love, reach out to someone that looks lonely, and rely on Christ whether life is good right now or not.
xoxo,
happy had.
