I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've had a wonderful summer filled with fun times with family and friends. I also recently got a job at a local thrift store so I've been working long hours every day so that hasn't left me much time to write! I also started school on Wednesday so I'm back to the crazy schedule!

I just got back from my trip to Chicago for my national Miss Amazing Pageant. I'm going to write a few different posts about my experiences so it's not too long and I don't bore all of you so I'm going to start with NAUVOO!

I was super excited when my mom suggested that we could go to Nauvoo on the way cause I hadn't been back since we were in the pageant in 2016. As soon as we pulled up I felt the amazing spirit and felt home.

We made it just in time for the Country Fair that happens before the pageant each night. They have dancing, pioneer games, and other fun activities. I was at the dancing station a couple years ago so it was so good to be back.

I loved watching the pageant, but I do have to admit, it was interesting to watch it without our cast and the way we are used to it, but the spirit and feel of the performance were just the same. I hope we are able to go back and do it again. We also got to see some good friends of ours and that was so great! Nauvoo was an amazing way to kick off our trip!

Always have hope,

Last Saturday I participated in the Miss Amazing pageant. this is a pageant that celebrates girls and women with disabilities. I was in the pageant in 2014 and really enjoyed it so I wanted to do it again! The whole day is full of fun activities such as a dance party, games, interviews, hair and makeup, a talent show, and then the final show!

At the beginning of the day, they assign you a "buddy" to hang out with all day. My buddy was the best!!! She was so kind and made me feel so loved and made the day so much more fun! I'm so grateful I made a new friend!

The interview part was a little scary for me. They had a few pageant queens as well as some influential women in the community there to interview us. They asked us questions about how we are involved in our communities and at school, and the things we are doing to make a difference. I was able to talk about some of the things I have been involved in such as clubs at school ball girl at UVU, and blogging! Even though being interviewed made me a little nervous, it was a good experience and I know it will help me in the future.

The talent show was optional and I didn't think I was going to do it, but at the last minute, I decided to share my watercolor painting. I talked about why I painted it and what it meant to me. This was also a good experience for me because I get really nervous talking in front of people.

The final show was so much fun! All the girls dressed up in fancy dresses and got our hair and makeup done and it was exciting to get all dolled up. Each contestant was escorted onto the stage while an announcer talked about each one. I was lucky enough to have 2 escorts, both of my younger brothers! It was awesome having them there to share this special moment with me!

I was honored to be crowned as the 2018 teen queen! This means that I get to go to Chicago in August along with the other queens from the rest of the divisions! I'm so excited to have the opportunity to represent Utah at Nationals and be able to make new friends. I will also be doing service and other activities throughout the year. I will keep you updated on what I'm doing!

I'm so grateful I was able to participate in the Miss Amazing Pageant this year. I made so many new friends and learned a lot about myself. I hope to be able to do this again in the future!

I was looking at some pictures from the Miss Amazing Pageant that I participated in two years ago. It was a really fun pageant where I learned a lot about myself and others. I want to share what it entailed and the experiences I had.

The Miss Amazing Pageant is a pageant for girls and women with disabilities. They do fun activities and promote unity and friendship between the participants. And then they also showcase the talents and abilities of the girls, Something that I thought was great was the skills that we got to practice during this. We got to be interviewed by judges and tell them about things we liked to do, and how we had an influence on the community.

I liked that we got buddies for the whole day. I really like having someone to look up to and be an example to me. I loved going in for the interviews and talking to people and tell them about the things I'm passionate about. I also got to be in the talent show and display a cat that I made out of clay in Art.

I also loved being escorted onto the stage and getting to wave and act like a princess for a day. This was a great experience for me because I don't think I'll ever get to participate in another pageant or thing like this again, so it was fun that I got to do it in a fun setting like this.

Always have hope,

Colby
