Your Happily Ever After

In Young Women's yesterday we had an awesome lesson on "Your Happily Ever After". This lesson was based off a talk given by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. You can read it here

My leader had us think of our favorite fairy tale and write down a few things about the characters and story. I'm going to put the questions here and you can fill in your fairy tale if you would like to.

Favorite Fairy tale:

Why:

Characteristics of Main character:

Triumph:

Adversity:

Outcome:

We outlined the different parts of our own fairy tales and why it's important that we go through these. I would like to just point these out and share a couple of thoughts.

Trial is Part of the Journey - "They each have to experience trials before they can reach their "happily ever after". Has there ever been a person who didn't have to go through his or her own dark valley..."

Why? - We discussed that everyone has to experience trial and hardship in life. Without having these trials, we can't experience true happiness. And we are able to have empathy for those going through similar things.
2 Nephi 2:11 reads "For it must needs be that there is opposition in all things."

Mountains to Climb - "Adversity teaches us things that we can't learn otherwise. Helps develop a depth of character that comes in no other way."

"He desires with the love of a perfect and pure father that you reach your supernal destiniation. Trust Him enough to follow His plan."

This quote from a pioneer who crossed the plains with one of the handcart companies really stood out to me. I wish I could have this attitude about my trials.

"The price we payed to become acquainted with God was a privilege to pay".

I'm grateful that we are able to experience things like this in our lives to help us reach our happily ever after. Ultimately, when we get to heaven, that will be our happily ever after.

Always have hope,

Colby
